Satellite Image Processing<\/strong><\/p>\n

The course will be held from September 2 to 4, 2026<\/strong>, at the
Novoli Science Center<\/strong>,
Palazzo D6 – DISEI, Department of Economics and Business,<\/strong>
Via delle Pandette, 9 \u2013 Florence<\/strong><\/p>\n

Registration: Online form<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Registration closes on August 24<\/strong> or when the maximum number of 20 students is reached.
The course will be activated with a minimum of 10 students.
Basic knowledge of R and Python is required to attend the course.
A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the course.<\/p>\n

Duration<\/strong>: 20 hours of lessons.<\/p>\n

September 2, 11am – 1pm;\u00a0 2pm – 6pm Part One \u2013 Introduction to Satellite Data (S. Parisi)<\/strong>
– Copernicus satellites and other important Earth observation constellations (optical and radar satellites)
– Satellite data:
– Temporal resolution
– Spectral resolution
– Geometric resolution<\/p>\n

September 3, 9am – 1pm ; 2pm – 6pm,\u00a0 Part Two \u2013 Raster data processing with R and Python (S. Parisi)<\/strong>
– Import\/export data from different formats
– Assigning a SR (EPSG)
– Band management
– Inter-band operations
– Example algorithms: reclassification
– Data manipulation using Python scripts
– Google Earth Engine
– Calculating satellite indices<\/p>\n

September 4, 9am – 1pm Part Three \u2013 Solving proposed case studies with R and Python (S. Parisi)<\/strong>
The case studies proposed by participants during registration will be addressed, as well as any questions. emerged during the course.<\/p>\n
