AIAM, in collaboration with Diagram Group, presents the third edition of the course in
Satellite Image Processing
The course will be held from September 2 to 4, 2026, at the
Novoli Science Center,
Palazzo D6 – DISEI, Department of Economics and Business,
Via delle Pandette, 9 – Florence

Registration closes on August 24 or when the maximum number of 20 students is reached.
The course will be activated with a minimum of 10 students.
Basic knowledge of R and Python is required to attend the course.
A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the course.
Duration: 20 hours of lessons.

September 2, 11am – 1pm; 2pm – 6pm Part One – Introduction to Satellite Data (S. Parisi)
– Copernicus satellites and other important Earth observation constellations (optical and radar satellites)
– Satellite data:
– Temporal resolution
– Spectral resolution
– Geometric resolution
September 3, 9am – 1pm ; 2pm – 6pm, Part Two – Raster data processing with R and Python (S. Parisi)
– Import/export data from different formats
– Assigning a SR (EPSG)
– Band management
– Inter-band operations
– Example algorithms: reclassification
– Data manipulation using Python scripts
– Google Earth Engine
– Calculating satellite indices
September 4, 9am – 1pm Part Three – Solving proposed case studies with R and Python (S. Parisi)
The case studies proposed by participants during registration will be addressed, as well as any questions. emerged during the course.
September 4, 2-4 PM Part Four – Course Conclusion and Final Test (S. Parisi)
